The attackers were looking for information about the vaccine and technology for treating coronavirus infection.

Representatives of the National Intelligence Agency of the Republic of Korea reported that North Korean hackers tried to break into the computer systems of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer in search of information about a vaccine and technology for treating coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

This is not the first cyberattack by hackers to steal sensitive pharmaceutical data in the past few months. The European Medicines Agency (EALA) was subjected to a cyberattack in December 2020, as a result of which attackers gained access to documents related to the COVID-19 vaccine. In January 2021, the EALS reported that some data on the coronavirus vaccine (COVID-19) from Pfizer and BioNTech, stolen from its servers, was published online by hackers.

Last week, it was reported that North Korean hackers stole more than $300 million, which the authorities most likely used to modernize the country's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs. North Korea-linked cybercriminals have attacked financial institutions and virtual currency exchanges.
