News Hackers attacked the European regulator for certification of vaccines against COVID-19

The European medicines Agency (EEA) responsible for the certification of COVID-19 vaccines was subjected to a cyber attack of an unknown nature. According to a notice on the EALs website, the Agency is currently investigating the incident together with law enforcement agencies.

"EALs was the victim of a cyberattack. The Agency quickly launched a full investigation in close cooperation with law enforcement and other relevant organizations. EBA is not yet able to provide further information because the investigation is still ongoing. Additional information will be provided in due course, " the organization's website says.

Although there are many theories Online about the nature and purpose of the cyberattack, the Agency itself does not report any facts. However, the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the German biotech company BioNTech issued a joint notification, according to which, during the attack on the EALs, hackers gained access to some documents related to the certification of THEIR covid-19 vaccine.

"Today, the European medicines Agency informed us that it was the victim of a cyber attack and that the regulatory documentation for certification of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, BNT162b2, stored on the EALs servers was illegally accessed," the notification says.
