Damages in a criminal case is estimated at tens of millions of rubles
Law enforcement officers detained a hacker who, as part of a group of individuals, installed malicious software on the computers of commercial organizations in Moscow and received tens of millions of rubles from companies illegally.
"Polmanis Ritvars Oskarovich was identified and detained by law enforcement officers, as well as specialists in the field of computer security. He is one of the defendants in the case of illegal access to computer security and fraud. The capital's organizations that suffered as a result of fraudulent actions of a group of individuals were recognized as victims, " the source said.
Ritvars Polmanis is accused of committing crimes under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: Part 2 of Article 273 ("Creation, use and distribution of malicious computer programs"), Part 3 of Article 272 ("Unlawful access to computer information that caused major damage committed by an organized group") and Part 4 of Article 159 ("Fraud committed by an organized group on a particularly large scale").
