The decision was made in connection with numerous attacks on MSP in recent years.

NinjaRMM, a company that provides endpoint management software to managed service providers (MSPs), intends to create its own "red Team" of specialists (Red Team) to improve cybersecurity. The decision was made in connection with numerous attacks on MSP in recent years.

While the 200-person organization is already working with a 24-hour security provider and a risk assessment firm to detect problems, the team will be the next logical step to improving security by taking on the role of the attacker, explained IB Director Lewis Huen.

Instead of replacing the security features of existing vendors, the internal team will provide NinjaRMM with the ability to check security measures and identify threats. The company plans to hire up to three people in the red team.

The NinjaRMM team will focus on three security areas — network attacks, code attacks, and attacks on company employees. Its purpose is to make sure that the security management tools are working properly and to find out whether undetected vulnerabilities can make the company vulnerable to hacking.

The attacks on MSP prompted the US Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to alert and inform managed service providers of attackers targeting the industry. The use of MSP significantly increases the area of the virtual enterprise infrastructure and the number of privileged accounts, creating a large attack surface for cybercriminals.
